Magellium at a glance
Founded in 2003 in Toulouse by Jean-Pierre Madier and Patrice Berranger, the initial focus for Magellium was meeting the needs of CNES (French Space Agency), IGN (French National Institute of Geography) and Airbus Defence & Space (formerly SpotImage). Magellium has grown steadily since its creation and in 2009 acquired the defence branch of Générale d’Infographie and the assets of GeoTexel to consolidate its leading position in geoinformation. The company has been also involved in the development of vision-based solutions for robotics applications that require advanced skills in image processing and 3D geometry.
Innovation is the cornerstone of the corporate strategy through internal and collaborative R&D programmes, scientific & technical collaborations with academics, research institute and industry. The company is an active participant in business clusters and open innovation networks in France. Internal innovation programmes often rely on the funding support of local or national public bodies and also on large European Innovation & Research programmes in the Space and Defence domains.
Technical teams are divided into two production sites in Toulouse (head office) and Paris (Courbevoie-92). Defence & Security and Space sectors account for 80% of the business with almost 50% through export (Europe and Middle East). The company is ISO 9001:2008 certified.
Technical and commercial teams are spread on two sites in Toulouse (head office) and Paris (Courbevoie-92).
