Magellium at a glance
Founded in 2003 in Toulouse, Magellium initially focused on meeting the needs of the French National Centre for Space Studies (CNES), the French National Institute of Geography (IGN) and Airbus Defence & Space (formerly SpotImage). Magellium has grown steadily since its creation.In 2009 it acquired the defence branch of Générale d’Infographie and the assets of GeoTexel, further consolidating its leading position in the geoinformation field. The company has also been heavily involved in the development of vision-based solutions for robotics applications that require advanced skills in image processing and 3D geometry.
Innovation is the cornerstone of the corporate strategy, an approach consistently expressed through internal and collaborative R&D programmes and through scientific & technical collaborations with academics, research institutions, and industry pioneers. The company is an active participant in business clusters and open innovation networks in France. Internal innovation programmes often rely on the funding support of local or national public bodies and also on large European Innovation & Research programmes in the Space and Defence domains.
Technical teams are divided into two production sites in Toulouse (head office) and Paris (Courbevoie-92). Magellium is primarily involved in activities related to Defence & Security, Space, Transportation, Energy, Public and Environmental sectors with a part through export (Europe and Middle East). The company is ISO 9001:2008 certified on all engineering activities.
