Job description

As part of its Earth observation activities, Magellium is involved in major programs led by space agencies and other institutions. Magellium is recognized by its customers for its scientific expertise in many fields, rangingfrom measurement physics to downstream applications.The Earth observation projects entrusted to us by our customers involve, in particular, the implementation of scientific processing chains for data acquired by satellites.

These processing chains are designed for various purposes: scientific research, concept validation, or integration into the ground segments of satellite missions. Their distinctive feature lies in theneed to combine expertise in scientific and algorithmic remote sensing techniques with a mastery of the engineering (methodological, organizational, and IT) aspects of processing chains.

 

Within the Earth Observation unit, you will work as part of a team specializing in deep learning studies, with space agencies such as CNES and ESA as your main clients.

The position to be filled is that ofTech Lead in Artificial Intelligence for Earth Observation.

Working closely with the current head of the Deep Learning research team, this key position is at the heart of our Artificial Intelligence innovation projects. It involves responsibility for structuring, executing, and ensuring the success of our deep learning activities, from the prospecting phase through to final delivery.

 

The main tasks are:

  • Technology Watch

○ Keep abreast of the latest advances, publications, and tools in deep learning (convolutional networks, foundation models, computer vision, etc.) in areas relevant to the team's activities.

○ Propose the integration of new technologies and methodologies to improve the relevance of our offerings

○ Share knowledge and train the team on new technical topics

  • Response to Calls for Tenders and Business Development

○ Analyze customer needs and specifications related to Deep Learning

○ Design innovative technical architectures and methods, drawing on a synthesis of current knowledge

○ Write compelling technical proposals

  • Technical Responsibility and Expertise

○ Conduct studies and projects independently, in collaboration with the team leader, particularly in a consortium setting with research laboratories.

○ Lead teams of specialized engineers

○ Make fundamental technical decisions and solve complex problems to ensure the technical quality of the solutions developed.

○ Oversee the development, training, and industrialization of deep learning models.

○ Interpret the results scientifically

○ Contribute to the drafting of documents and presentations (reports, reviews, scientific papers, etc.), present results orally to clients or the scientific community.

○ Be proactive in submitting articles to peer-reviewed journals or conferences

Profile required

You hold a degree from a prestigious engineering school or a PhD in computer science, applied mathematics, or image processing, and haveat least five years of recognized experience in artificial intelligence/deep learning.

You are proficient in deep learning architectures and actively follow the latest developments in this field. You are interested in the space sector and ideally have experience in satellite image processing using deep learning.

 

Technical skills/hard skills:

  • Optical imaging, image processing
  • Applied mathematics and statistical processing
  • Deep learning and related tools (PyTorch, TensorFlow, etc.)
  • Strong skills in scientific computing and related languages (Python)
  • Excellent ability to synthesize, critically review documents, and write in a scientific context
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English
