Magellium Artal Group is an engineering and services group with nearly 300 engineers and PhDs, recognized for its scientific expertise as well as its capabilities in software and systems engineering, image processing, and geospatial data.

The company has a presence in France at three strategic locations.
Toulouse, known as Europe's space capital and the international capital of aeronautics, is home to our head office, anchoring our presence at the heart of the aerospace industry. In Paris, our site strengthens our proximity to partners and customers, fostering national and international collaborations.
This alliance of the two sites enables us to provide innovative solutions for our customers in France and abroad.

1998
Artal Technologies, a spin-off of Matra Espace, was founded. From the outset, the company focused on developing software components for real-time space and aerospace systems. It achieved significant business growth by securing long-term contracts with renowned clients such as Airbus, Thales Alenia Space, the DGAC, and the DGA. Revenue grew to €6 million with approximately 60 employees in 2008. The company obtained the certifications necessary to establish its credibility, including ISO standards and defense confidentiality certifications.
2003
Magellium was founded with the initial goal of meeting the needs of CNES, IGN, and SpotImage (Astrium GeoServices, now ADS). Magellium has grown steadily since its founding and, in 2009, acquired the defense division of Générale d'Infographie and the assets of GeoTexel. It is also involved in the development of computer vision-based solutions for robotics applications that require advanced expertise in image processing and 3D geometry.
2016
The merger of Artal Technologies and Magellium, which complements the skills, expertise, and strengths of both companies. The combined entity becomes the Magellium Artal Group, a leader combining true expertise in software engineering and image processing. The Group has become a trusted supplier to clients in the aerospace, defense, energy, and public sectors. With 200 employees, the new Group has ambitions on a European scale.
Following a restructuring phase and a move to Toulouse into a new 3,500-square-meter building, the Group gained recognition across Europe and beyond in the aerospace and defense sectors. In 2020, a minority investment fund acquired a stake in the Group to help it pursue external growth opportunities. In 2024, the Group’s Paris office moved to more spacious facilities in La Garenne-Colombes. In 2025, the investment fund Eiréné, which specializes in the defense and security sectors, became the Group’s majority shareholder and is supporting it in its ambition to become the leading independent player through growth in its traditional markets and an active strategy of external growth.
The Group is planning an ambitious yet measured expansion, driven by a unique combination of technical, software, and scientific expertise in image and geospatial data processing, as well as a strong culture of R&D that adheres to its commitments to ethics and sustainable development.
