Géo-IDE SDI (MEDDTL – 2013/2017)

Rationalization process of the SDI of the French Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development, Transport and Housing into a single system GeoIDE.

The French Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development, Transport and Housing (MEDDTL) has initiated in recent years a process of rationalization of their Spatial Data Infrastructure (SDI) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS). The objective is to evolve existing applications into a single system called Géo-IDE (more information in French at http://bit.ly/1pEcfRU).

Applications concerned by the project are notably :

  • Carmen (used by the former Ministry of Ecology and DREAL services),
  • Cartélie (used by the former Ministry of Equipment or other services),
  • GéoWeb (tool of the MAAPRAT used by the DDTs- Directions départementales des territoires).

The chosen method for this transition is a gradual and supervised changeover of existing applications to Géo-IDE in order to avoid disruption of services and too rapid operational changes for users. Géo-IDE SDI will eventually gather all the geographical and environmental information generated by the MEDDE and METL with a strong link with the geographical data of the Ministry of Agriculture.

Technical interoperability mechanisms (OGC WMS/WFS) are essential building blocks of the project with a strict implementation of the European INSPIRE regulations.

Magellium is co-contracting this 4 years framework contract project with Neogeo. Technologies used in the framework of this 4 years project are strictly from the Open Sources community:

  • Postgres / PostGIS
  • Talend
  • Tomcat – Java – PHP
  • MapServer, GeoWebCache
  • Ext JS, Jquery
  • OpenLayer
  • GeoSource – GeoNetwork
